i made a pumpkin!

Photobucket
i made this!

i sewed it!
{first time using a sewing machine, might i add.}

isn't it kinda the cutest thing ever?

i have to give my deepest thanks to aneta for...
1. inviting me to her house for dinner
2. helping me make this adorable pumpkin
3. providing ice cream while we crafted
and
4. sending me out the door with leftovers for lunch for the next day

yep, she's the best.

so, if you want to have your own little pumpkin, go right over here and see how it's done.

if i could do it, you definitely can.

happy friday everyone!
hope you have a craftastic weekend!

you've got mail...and other happy things.

when i saw this post a few weeks ago, i knew i had to make my own for mr. lesley and myself.
i mean, how can you resist such adorableness from the target dollar spot?
but i didn't want it to be only for valentine's day.
i need cuteness like this around me the entire year.
i have this on my bookshelf, and whenever we put a little something for the other person in it, we just stick their magnet on the front and put up the flag.
instant happiness.
you should probably go get one at target asap.

last night was jammed packed with other happiness...
like...
the skinny enchiladas and
tex-mex couscous mr. lesley and i made for date night
(i don't know what's happening to me. i think i may actually like cooking.)
my chinese slippers i still wear just about every day
this song by kari jobe that i've been listening to over and over
the flowers from mr. lesley that made my hard day so much better
and, of course, sir winston
his butt shake and underbite always make me smile.
here's to hoping your days are full of happy things.

pumpkins of the rainbow.

i saw this on one of my favorite blogs, whatever, today and was in love.
aren't these the happiest pumpkin you've ever seen?

i guess i know what my next craft will be.
i've never been too good with a knife anyway:)

happy monday.

the refrigerator...

is one of the most overlooked, yet important, spots in a home (in my humble opinion).
not because of what's inside, but because of the potential of the outside.
i like to think of it as a family's photo gallery.

and what photo gallery is complete without magnets?
ok maybe that's a stretch, but i for one love magnets.
they are an easy and satisfying craft.

so on this lovely sunday afternoon i decided to get my craft on and construct some more magnets for our refrigerator.

my supplies included:
1. magnets
2. pins and beer caps (my favorites include the "no sin" and the "radically saved" pins...if you don't know who carman is, please educate yourself:)
3. super glue and a wire cutter (it helps with taking the backs off of the pins)

Photobucket

and there you have it.
easy as pie.

your refrigerator will thank you.

Photobucket

mine is pretty happy, if i do say so myself.

2.02.2011

baby, it's cold outside.

and by cold, i mean like -20 degrees cold
(without wind chill, mind you).

so cold...
-your dog starts limping from his paws touching the pavement.
-your skinny jeans freeze to your legs.
-your nose hairs attach themselves to your nose ring at every inhale.

and...
-aurora public schools closes down for 2 days in a row
(insert wild applause here).

in order to relish in the time off, i...

1. went to barnes and noble for some quality reading time.
2. snuggled with sir winston.
3. bought 17 again and the first season of dawson's creek from the used dvd store (confession: i love dawson's creek and secretly wish i was as cool as and had the vocabulary of joey potter).
4. went on a date to the movies with mr. lesley (and actually really enjoyed it)...the fighter is one fabulous movie with incredible acting!

Photobucket

5. made my first over easy egg!

Photobucket

6. pulled out my trusty craft box and created a little wall art.

Photobucket

(a few canvases+ craft paint+anthropology magazines+buttons (duh!)+modge podge= craftastic!)

Photobucket

7. used our coups at village inn...don't judge us...it was delicious.

Photobucket

(they have the best pie in america...btw...and on wednesday's it's "pie rush wednesday"...a free slice of pie for everyone...so don't judge village inn...you don't even know what you're missing.)

Photobucket

8. took a trip to r.e.i./petsmart to get sir winston a new hoodie (!) and some snow booties!
(the booties are for his little feet in the snow and the hoodie was more for me:)
he's ecstatic, as you can tell.

Photobucket

mr. lesley and i were planning on taking winston to estes park to go snow shoeing tomorrow, but alas, the temps are still too frigid:(

here's to another day in my pj's, watching every episode of the office!

xoxo
