everything vs. something

yesterday i met angela.
she lives in masi with her 2 year old daughter, lalita, and her mother.

angela is living with HIV.
after losing mobility in her legs and feet, she is now forced to spend most of her days in bed.

her disease may have stolen some things from her, but it has not taken her joy.
as we talked and laughed with her, her smile lit up the dark bedroom.

angela and her family are a part of a sponsoring program my friends are involved with in masi, connecting families abroad with families in the township...

...families affected by HIV/AIDS...
...households run by older siblings because both parents have died...
...orphaned children who live with extended family members...

because of this program...
-families who would normally go hungry have food in their stomachs.
-children who can't afford school uniforms and general fees are able to attend school with their peers.
-shacks that are falling apart can be repaired.
-warm blankets cover children as the harsh winds and rain of these winter months beat against their shacks.
-and most importantly, families are shown the love of God and know that they are not forgotten.

all for $40 a month

when i heard that, i knew not only was i responsible to give, but i was also responsible to tell you.

right now, they are looking for 22 people who would be willing to sponsor these families.
and i see no reason why every spot can't be filled by the time i leave cape town on june 29th.

we have been blessed with more than enough, and because of that we are responsible.
what seems like so little to you and me, can make a world of difference for one of these families.

you can't do everything, but you can do something.

please consider what you and your family can do to help.

email me (hannahldevries@gmail.com) or leave a comment if you would like to be a sponsor or have any questions about the program.

and PLEASE READ bethany's most recent
to more fully understand what life is like for these families.

xoxo
